Initial Review

Dr Gunaratne aims to review you within 2 weeks of receiving referral at Sundew Day Surgery.

You will either be offered:

1. Non-surgical management

2. Further investigations and followup

3. If your diagnosis is clear, same day surgery under local anaesthetic can be offered.

Same-Day Surgery

Quick and effective carpal tunnel release on the day via mini open approach.

• Surgery under local anaesthetic does not require fasting

• Sedation/ General anaesthesia can be offered with fasting

  • Solid foods for at least 6 hours before surgery but can often drink clear liquids (water, clear juice, black coffee/tea) up to 2 hours prior.

Other considerations

• Make sure you have organised someone to help get you home from hospital, as you will be unable to drive until wounds heal.
